The Digital Reconstruction of Louisbourg is an independent historical visualization and research project created by Daniel C. MacNeil. It is intended for educational, research, artistic, and public-history purposes.

The digital model represents an interpretation of Louisbourg as it may have appeared during the 18th century, with a primary focus on approximately 1750. The reconstruction is based on a combination of historical maps and architectural plans, archival records, archaeological information, contemporary site data, LiDAR and terrain information, historical research, and other available sources.

Not every structure, landscape feature, architectural detail, or spatial relationship can be established with complete certainty. Where direct evidence is incomplete or unavailable, elements of the reconstruction may represent informed interpretation or extrapolation based on surviving documentation, archaeological evidence, comparable structures, and the surrounding historical context.

The model should therefore not be considered an exact or definitive representation of the historical town. It is a digital interpretation that may be revised as additional evidence, research, or corrections become available.

This project is independent and is not an official reconstruction, publication, product, or representation of Parks Canada or the Government of Canada unless expressly stated otherwise.
